The Truth about Embodying Your Higher Self

About a year ago, I set an intention to become a future self who embodied my higher self.

I thought that becoming my higher self would mean leaving the old me behind, dismissing the story as completely irrelevant. I expected to be peaceful, instead of being tossed and turned by the vagaries of life.

I forgot that wherever I went spiritually, my body and nervous system would be coming with me.

Dreaming of a future self can be inspiring, which is great. Until it begins to feel like pressure.

And like who you are today isn’t enough. It’s no longer helpful if you start treating growth like a makeover where you replace yourself with someone more “spiritual,” like I tried to do.

You didn’t come here to become someone else. You came here to remember who you already are. Life in 3D can make you forget what’s true, but it can’t change what you are.

When spirituality becomes another ideal to live up to, it stops being a refuge and starts becoming another demand.

And future-self images often ignore real limits, like health, grief, work, money, family, hormones, and plain old exhaustion. When you measure yourself against a spiritual ideal, like your 5D higher self, the actual experience of connecting to your higher self is likely to disappoint you.

Because it won’t be fireworks and perfection. It's more like a quiet, peaceful presence. And for me, it’s a felt sense of being held and loved in my real life, even when things don’t change right away.

So you can tell that imagined version that it’s not the boss of you. 🙂

You get to choose presence over losing to comparison. And your true future self can handle the imperfections.

If you want a simple way to come back to yourself, try this…

Put one hand on your heart and breathe a little slower. Let your breath drop into your belly and feel your body, right here, right now.

Your higher self doesn’t want to erase the human you. She wants to live with you, in you, through you. She meets you on the days you feel clear, but she’s also right there with you on the days you feel foggy and tender.

Allow yourself to stop being pulled around by the outside world and its impossible standards (even in the spiritual community). Instead, in the difficult moments, tenderly help yourself return to your own center.

Remember This

You’re not here to earn your worth by becoming higher-self perfect. You’re here to remember her and let her become a part of your human life.

So embodying your higher self can happen in your crazy mornings, with your strained relationships, your imperfect habits, and in your sacred everyday life.

Journal prompts (if you want them)

What am I forgetting right now, and what do I need to remember today?

Where am I trying to replace myself instead of looking after myself with love?

What would feel most aligned for me in the next 24 hours?

See you next time!

Love, Jeanine
